A Beacon for the Holiday season

The Monson Arts Council’s 43rd Annual Holiday Craft Fair, which features hand crafted items, will open on Saturday, November 26th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and continue on Sunday, November 27th from 11:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. This fair has become a beacon for crafters, drawing a backlog of requests to participate, and always filling early.  It is also a beacon for hordes of Christmas shoppers who return year after year to revisit their favorite crafters.  Crafters report that it is among the best organized and most successful fairs in the area.

Two new crafters for 2022

The fair presents 70 artisans, crafters and non-profit organizations who all offer a variety of items. The crafters are located in four buildings in downtown Monson, MA. (Mass Pike – Exit 63 – Route 32 South – 200 Main Street). Crafters are set up in Memorial Hall, the House of Art, and the Universalist and Methodist Churches. The four venues are all within sight of each other, an easy stroll even when laden with goodies.

All locations offer a wide variety of gifts, decorations and collectibles, including stained glass, bath products, books, candles, clothing, holiday decorations, jewelry, quilts, soft sculpture, hand crafted greeting cards, pottery, and much more. Since most crafters return year after year and request to keep their regular location, a visit to the fair is very much a visit to old acquaintances.

The annual fair is a major fundraiser for the Monson Arts Council as well as several other non-profit groups. The two churches receive a portion of the fees earned by their venue.

Luncheon is available both days in Memorial Hall, and the Methodist Church.

A Girl Scout Carol Sing will take place in front of Memorial Hall at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26th. This holiday music precedes Santa’s arrival on a fire truck at approximately 4:30 p.m.  Once he arrives, all children may meet Santa Claus in person in the Town’s Fire Station where cocoa and cookies will be served.
