Monson Arts Council Annual Spring Juried Art Show is designed to bring together in our beautiful House of Art, the many talented artists in all media within our region of Western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. We always give the art show a theme designed to inspire thinking about a work of art, but not too specifically because we are so aware that the greatest art comes from within the artist.
Our Art Show is designed around four major types of art: painting, photography, multi-dimensional – including sculptural, fabric based, carvings, and any other work that goes beyond a flat surface – and graphic arts – including drawing and printmaking.
Our outreach is as wide as we can make it. We encourage every artist to take the chance of being in our House of Art. Art is meant to be seen, so be brave, submit your work. We have had newcomers win big prizes, and we have seen notable and critically successful artists be rejected. Art is subjective and personal so come on over!
With generous support from our sponsors, especially Monson Savings Bank which has contributed $4000 toward our prizes for many years, and our media sponsors, we are able to offer one of the best prize packages of any art show in the entire state of Massachusetts and surrounding regions. We also owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Massachusetts Cultural Council which has supported our show from its earliest years.
Our show is juried and the guidelines are designed to insure a fair, unbiased and uninfluenced process. We don’t permit our Board members or Art Show Committee members to win any cash awards (although they are welcome to enter and admission is also blind, jurors are not permitted to know names of artists they are selecting.) You are invited to read our juror guidelines accessible on this website.
2023 will be our 29th Annual show. It will be our 30th year due to having to cancel our show in 2020 because of Covid. More about next year’s show will be posted here in the coming months.
