Monson Arts Council to Present “A Christman Carol: A Live Radio Play”
The Monson Arts Council is pleased to announce the upcoming production of “A Christmas Carol: A Live Radio Play on December 4th and 5th at The Granite Valley School.
Auditions will be held September 9th and 12th at the House of Art in Monson, MA.
“This is a classic holiday tale for so many families, and we’re thrilled at the chance to perform the story of Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, and all your favorite characters in a brand new, old fashioned way.” said director Amos Lake.
Continuing the beloved Monson Arts Council tradition, this year’s production will be performed as a live radio play. Actors onstage will perform the story as if for an old-fashioned radio drama, complete with practical sound effects.
“There’s something timeless about the magic of radio,” said producer Tony Esposito. “People love to see the behind-the-screens tricks that allowed these immersive stories to be told. We’ve been working on improving our techniques and are excited to bring back a type of theater our audiences love.”
The Monson Arts Council is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is “To discover, promote and sustain an appreciation of and an involvement in art and culture in Monson.” It is run by a volunteer Board of Directors who serve three year terms, and who each year elect a slate of officers for the coming year.
