Monson Museum of Art

Posted in:

June 3 and 4 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Please join us for an afternoon at the Monson Museum of Art located at the House of Art on Main St in Monson. This show will be open to the public on June 3rd and 4th from 1 to 4 pm. The exhibit will highlight two artists, Newell Guy Murri and David Dupuis. They will be exhibiting their work along with art from the Monson Arts Council’s permanent collection.  Seen here are two portraits, one by David Dupuis of Newell Murri, the other by Newell Murri of David Dupuis.

In 2011, the Monson Arts Council received a gift of a collection of art from the Dr. Jean Porwoll estate. This collection has been expanded by other donations received throughout the years.  The MAC Art Show/Museum Committee has been refurbishing many of the works of art in the past year, with support from funds donated in memory of Sylvia Pyzocha by many of her friends, and a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Our first Museum event last year offered a chance for people to experience some of this diverse collection of art and at the same time to take a walk inside the House of Art and see our refurbished galleries, with donations from the Town of Monson, the Monson Savings Bank , the Grace Makepeace Trust, and additional anonymous individuals.

The Monson Museum of Art will be open in the House of Art at various times throughout the year rotating our collection. There will be a new display of our collection with each opening. Please check our What’s Happening and Events page for upcoming viewing opportunities.
