A Monson Holiday Tradition
The Monson Arts Council’s 43rd Annual Holiday Craft Fair, which features hand crafted items, will open on Saturday, November 26th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and continue on Sunday, November 27th from 11:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. This fair is much more than just a Monson Arts Council event. For many years it has been integrated with the very fabric of the town’s holiday traditions. Visitors come not simply to browse and shop, but also to participate in the official opening of the Monson holiday season.
Every year, a Girl Scout Carol Sing takes place in front of Memorial Hall at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, the first day of the fair. This holiday music precedes Santa’s arrival on a fire truck at approximately 4:30 p.m. Once he arrives, all children may meet Santa Claus in person in the Town’s Fire Station where cocoa and cookies will be served. This is also the moment when the town’s Christmas lights are officially turned on. These festivities mark the beginning of the holiday season for the whole town. The annual fair is a major fundraiser for the Monson Arts Council as well as several other non-profit groups which take booths in the fair. The two churches also receive a portion of the fees earned by their venue.
Luncheon is available both days in Memorial Hall, and the Methodist Church.
Come and participate in a fantastic town tradition!
