Monson Mural Paint Party

Posted in:

There will be a PAINT PARTY!!! open to all comers to begin work on the new Monson MURAL. This will be a wonderful opportunity for anyone in the community who wishes to be part of the process. It is open to all comers, of whatever age and artistic experience.

The event will be on Thursday May 18, 5-7 pm

Rain date: Thursday June 1, 5-7

at the mural site, the back wall of Adams Supermarket. This is the space between Adams and Beth’s restaurant just off Main Street. FOR INFO, CALL 413-218-6981.

No artistic skill needed! Participants will be “painting by the numbers” to fill in the basic color areas of the mural. It will be a blast! The mural has already been designed by the artists who won the competition to produce it: Melissa Pandina of Easthampton MA and Shara Osgood of Fitchburg MA. The winning design was chosen among 11 submissions by the BCA mural subcommittee and approved by the select board last month. The theme by which the entries were judged was “MONSON: PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE”.

For the paint party itself the artists will be bringing everything you need. Actual sections of the mural marked on polytab cloth will be laid out on tables, with broad areas marked by numbers, each corresponding to a different color. Each participant will be given a number to work on, a brush and paint of the appropriate color. Detailed work will be done by the artists themselves later on. Plan on coming with friends and family, seniors and youth groups, and join in the fun.
