Sponsored by The Monson Arts Council
Once again, Council president Peter Barnett will be offering a six-week workshop devoted to the art of plein air painting: The workshop will take place on six consecutive Tuesdays from 9 to 11 am, each session taking the group to another venue for painting. The dates of the workshop are August 22 and 29, and September 5, 12, 19 and 26. Rain dates will be agreed upon as needed.
The fee for the workshop is $30, which covers all six sessions. Each participant may work in a medium of their choice. Applicants can enroll online on this website (see below) and pay by credit card or paypal. There is a limit of 8 participants, with five slots currently taken. Those who apply online will be notified whether they have been enrolled.
Peter describes his approach to teaching work from nature as “guided seeing”. The focus is on increasing each participants ability to see and select what they need from a scene. Peter’s says “It is my belief that 90% of the skill needed to paint from nature is in the eye, rather than the hand or the mind”.
